Originally I wanted to post this on the exactly one year after I resurrected my old blog and started…well, blogging. That date of course was January 5, 2009 as you can see here. I’m positive all three of my readers pays attention to this meticulous detail. But alas, I failed that self imposed deadline and I have been writing this blog entry on and off for the past month. Happy New Year I guess. It still counts right as long as I post this by the end of January.
I know most of you that read my blog and I am grateful that you do. Sure, I write for my own enjoyment and to express myself creatively through the written word, but it’s always nice to know you have an audience to write to. I am aware that most of my readers are female because I strongly suspect that my male friends cannot read or simply don’t give a crap. It could also be a wonderful combination of both.
I started this blog not sure what I will write about but as time went on I wanted each entry to be about something. I am for the most part still struggling with self censorship still because I know exactly who reads my entries, and more importantly what you will think of me as I express myself. Then again this of course is posted on the Internet and Serg from Russia can also be reading my very entries. I could care less about what Serg thinks of me but I do care about what you may think of me. People that I actually know. Does this make sense? I’m just rambling anyways. Let’s continue.
I categorize my blog entries into a few streams. There are my ‘fun’ blogs written for mass appeal such as “Player Haters“, “All You Can Eat“, “Unicorns, Minotaurs, and Centaurs” and more recently “Previously On….“. Then I have borderline depressing yet retrospective blogs such as “Curb Your Enthusiasm“, “Only for a Moment” and “Man in the Mirror“. I try to veer away from these melancholy entries because no one reads blogs to feel like they want to slit their own wrists, they want to read entries full of zest and life. Then finally, I have blogs that are written just for my own amusement on things that I like such as “POPcorn!” and “A Farewell to Late Night“. Who would’ve thought Conan would be off the air for good (until he finds a new broadcast deal) in less than a year I wrote that entry.
I also have a few entries that I’m not too proud of. Sometimes when I write, the concept of what I am going to write seemed like a good idea at the time, but as the idea is fleshed out in words, it just doesn’t translate sometimes. “15 Minutes” and “The Big Three” come to mind as disappointing entries that were penned by yours truly.
This is perhaps why my blog posts have been sporadic at best in the past half a year. Laziness and writer’s block also comes into play at times, but really, I am going with the notion of if I don’t have anything interesting to say, I shouldn’t say anything at all. I suppose my blog entries are a great indication of the person that I am. It’s a perfect mixture of what I think the world would like me to be vs what I wish to show the world.
That being said, I do have a lot of ideas in mind for the upcoming year to post about. I hope you can join me. Just a preview of things to come, I will be writing about my love for photography, windshield wipers and maybe something about urinals soon. Maybe.
I shall leave you off with something Conan O’Brien said tonight that touched me as he hosted his last episode of “The Tonight Show” after a messy divorce from NBC and the shrewd Jay Leno.
“I hate cynicism,” he said. “It’s my least favorite quality and it doesn’t lead anywhere. Nobody in life gets exactly what they thought they were going to get. But if you work really hard and you’re kind, amazing things will happen.” – Conan O’Brien
Thanks Conan for all the great memories. See you in September!
Here’s to a wonderful 2010 my dear friends.
